LWVHouston President Dr. Annie Johnson Benifield received the Yellow Rose of Texas Award at the Texas Community College Teachers Association 75th Annual Convention at The Westin Galleria on March 2, 2023.

The Yellow Rose Award is for exceptional community service!

The award was conceived and inaugurated by Governor Allan Shivers before the end of his second term in 1957. The Yellow Rose of Texas Commission is the highest award bestowed to women by the Texas Governor.
